Over the last two years, Beacon has contributed over three quarters of a million dollars in charitable donations to organizations like the Boys and Girls Club. This figure does not include the numerous non-cash charitable contributions our branches make to entities such as Habitat for Humanity throughout the year.  Beacon also contributes to scholarships like The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress’ Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship Program, which assists individuals seeking to further their educations to pursue careers in roofing or building construction industries.

Storm Relief

A spirit of stewardship and service to the community always has been at the heart of the Beacon. When one hurts, we all help.

In the summer of 2017, when hurricanes devastated areas of coastal Texas, the Caribbean, and the Florida peninsula damaging thousands of homes, disrupting lives, and closing businesses, the Beacon team took action. Employee safety and the safety of their families is Beacon’s number one concern during these situations.

To that end, when damage from Hurricanes Harvey and Irma shut down our branches, Beacon continued to pay over $240,000 in salaries to any affected employers.  Beacon also was able to generate a combined $96K in federal income tax credits for affected disaster area employees. Beacon’s Management Team also organized a go-fund me page to provide additional support to employees. Beacon employees contributed over $70,000 to provide their fellow employees with additional financial support in their time of need. This amount was matched by the Company.

Through the hard work and dedication of employees in the affected areas and the compassionate support by fellow employees around the country, Beacon is proud to have made a positive impact on those around us.

Political Involvement and Contributions

Although Beacon does not offer donations for any political party or candidate, we do encourage all of our employees to actively take part in the political process and support candidates of their choice.

Beacon participates in trade organizations that represent our industry as a whole.

Fleet Safety

Beacon utilizes a fleet of trucks to deliver its products. We understand that our gas-powered trucks release greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and we are working to reduce these emissions. Here is what we have done so far:

We continually invest to modernize our fleet to reduce emissions and improve safety for our drivers. All replacement Commercial Motor Vehicles are Certified Clean Idle diesel engines resulting in lower NOx levels of less than 30g/ hr.

With the implementation of In-cab technology, we are focused more now than ever on reducing emissions and our carbon footprint by managing the following:

  • Idle time
  • Speeding
  • Hard braking
  • Efficient routing
  • Eliminating empty miles
  • Improving our Preventative Maintenance Program for safer, efficient vehicle operation.
  • Increased intervals between particulate filter changes (less carbon output)
  • Less engine regenerations due to reduced idle time
  • Increased fuel mileage

NAFA Sustainable Fleet Accreditation Program

The NAFA Sustainable Fleet Accreditation Program is designed to recognize and reward fleets that are taking significant steps to incorporate sustainable actions into their everyday operations by improving air quality through:

  • Emission reduction
  • Increased fuel efficiency; and
  • Reduced fuel usage

Beacon recognizes the value in participating in this program and intends to use this platform to improve the safety and health of our 1200+ drivers. We continually invest to modernize our fleet to reduce emissions and improve safety for our drivers. We are also replacing our Non-Road small diesel engines with Tier 4 emission compliant engines.

Waste Management

Beacon strives to minimize the amount of waste we generate by adhering to local guidelines regarding recycling and disposal of hazardous waste materials.
